Siemens

Siemens in Indonesia has been a reliable and competent partner for infrastructure development in the business areas of Power, Automation and Control, Medical, Transportation, Lighting, and Information and Communications for 150 years. The company is the largest telecommunications supplier in Indonesia, with more than 40 percent market share in the booming mobile networks business. Siemens has contributed approximately one-sixth of the installed energy capacity in Indonesia by providing a complete range of power generation equipment. In fiscal 2006 (October 1, 2005 – September 30, 2006), sales to customers in Indonesia amounted to EUR 863 million. New orders totaled around EUR 1.1 billion. Siemens currently has about 3,600 employees in Indonesia.

Information and Communications

Our Communications Group (Com) supplied end-to-end solutions to further expand Telkomsel’s countrywide network as a turnkey project. Com successfully carried out the world’s first-ever implementation of the intelligent network feature. This customized feature is especially designed to enable Indosat to offer a variety of attractive services to its subscribers, such as its 5 hours free talk services. Hutchinson Telecom Indonesia, a new 3G mobile operator, awarded Siemens a contract to supply the first combined 2G/3G complete network facilities and to manage the network’s operation throughout the country for three years. In fixed networks, Siemens supplied its reliable solutions for the broadband network that enables PT. Telkom to offer its customer broadband applications such as TV streaming over the Internet.
