Motorola

Motorola products have been sold inside Indonesia for most of the 50 years of Indonesian Independence. Although a country rich in natural resources with a large population and available work force, Indonesia was developing very slowly until the de-regulation period started in 1989. As the country started to grow rapidly, Motorola set up a Trade Representative Office in Jakarta in 1991. Indonesia continued its rapid growth and Motorola established a limited liability company, PT. Motorola Indonesia in 1995.

Starting from a small office staff of 5 people in 1991, the Motorola staff has increased to about 120 people. Products sold by Motorola are mainly used to develop and support the telecommunications infrastructure of Indonesia. The main products are cellular telephones and systems as well as two-way radios and radio systems. PT. Motorola Indonesia provides sales, marketing and engineering support for Motorola products. Additional services provided include system engineering, site surveys and maintenance support. Setting up the human resources to support these areas has been augmented by Motorola-provided training, both here in Indonesia and at other Motorola world-wide locations and facilities.

Motorola has stressed its fundamental corporate “principles of doing business” in the business conducted in Indonesia. These principles include maintaining the highest levels of integrity and ethics with customers, suppliers, employees, the government and society at large. All employees are given periodic updates to reinforce these principles and to enhance awareness to ethical behavior.
