History of Indonesia Telecommunications started from year 1884, government of Dutch colonial found the privat enterprise providing domestic post service and international telegram service. Telephone service made available first time in Indonesia in the year 1882. And up to year 1906, provided by privat enterprise with the governmental license during 25 year.
Year 1906, government of Dutch colonial form the department controlling all service of post and telecommunications in Indonesia. Year 1961, some from this service is carried over by state-owned corporation.
Year 1965, government dissociate the service of second telecommunications and post of state company, that is: PN Post, and PN Telecommunications.
Year 1974, PN Telecommunications broken to become two that is: Public Company of Telecommunications and PT Inti Year 1980, international telecommunications business removed from Perumtel to Indosat.
Year 1991, government of fox Perumtel from " Public Company" becoming " Persero" that is PT TELKOM. Year 1992, standing PT Lintasarta. Year 1993, standing PT Satelindo representing joint venture from some telecommunications company that is: TELKOM, Indosat, PT Bimagraha Telekomindo, and Detemobil. In this year also stand up the PT Ratelindo representing joint venture between TELKOM and PT Bakrie Electronics.
Year 1995 and next year stand up some other telecommunications company, what in it PT TELKOM have the shares of stock, that is: Telkomsel,Komselindo, Mobisel, Metrosel, Satellite Pacific. Besides telecommunications company which there is still in phase proposal, peripatetic in the field of multimedia.
